El Problema

For each booking must be answered the same questions, consuming time and losing possible clients with late responses.

The Goal

Create an engaging website that responds to all client questions and offers a guided seamless booking experience reducing drop-off clients.

My Role

UX Researcher, UX/UI Designer, Product Designer, Web Developer.

  • Today the service is elderly-friendly, and the website is by far the most popular way of booking with its smooth experience.
  • Now Islatak doesn’t lose time or clients in the previous chatting.

Industry and Trends Analysis

We dived into the water sports industry to kick off the project, uncovering key trends and insights that would guide our design decisions.

  • People prefer to buy/rent Water-Sport equipment in Franchise Stores and Specialty stores rather than online.
  • The most valuable feature of online platforms is time-saving.
  • Mobile bookings and last-minute reservations are becoming increasingly popular.

Next, we conducted a competitive audit among direct competitors in Menorca and indirect competitors such as international travel platforms.

Research Findings

We conducted a survey and short interviews with some clients in situ, where we discovered a few things:

  • Elder members of the family were left behind. We needed to cover that gap in the website and the beach.
  • Clients had concerns about booking with anticipation due to uncertainty about weather conditions, therefore, we had to make it possible and easy to rebook/refund bookings.
  • Clients usually were looking to fulfill their day with adventures rather than doing a single activity, they were looking for a complete and diverse package.
  • The Catan client base wasn’t as large as it was in the beginning, so the default page language should be changed to Spanish.

We mapped out Alex's journey, from discovering Islatak's website to booking a water sports adventure, to better understand his needs and expectations.

Problem Statement

How may we ease the booking experience for adventure seekers, so they don’t come through a roller coaster of emotions?

By making the website a seamless experience where users could be confident about every step, we expected to increase user retention and conversion rate.

The simplest yet more complete and elderly-friendly online medium to fulfill your time in Menorca with aquatic adventures.

 

Goal Statement

Our water sports website will let users book activities the easiest way which will affect adventure seeker tourist families by solving every concern they have. We will measure effectiveness by analyzing the conversion rate over visits.

 

Sitemap

The simplest way to showcase our services to a family of tourists is to show them all on a short single page, where they will instantly find all the info and answers are looking for.

After sketching the key sections we needed, I sorted them in a way that would solve questions before they appeared and would lead users to move forward and book.

One section of the website focuses on showing how easy and safe is to have some of these water adventures. Age and mobility are Not an impairment to enjoy with the family.

Once I added colors, text, pictures, and videos and it was approved by the stakeholders, we went live.

The online booking rise was immediately spotted.

The website is now by far the most popular way of booking for Islatak. Thanks to its smooth experience no longer loses time or clients in the previous chatting.

It has received annual updates since its creation, keeping it up-to-date and useful.
